I used a Halti for a long while and have never used a dogmatic, but the trainers at the centre I go to brought in some leaflets from Crufts for a thing called a K9 Bridle! I bought 1 for CoCo and have not looked back. The control is at the back of the neck and not under the chin. Others had them at training last night and are of the same opinion.

I would suggest using a halti/dogmatic collar for getting walks/exercise in but still do loose leash walking training with a harness so your dog learns to walk without the halter. I only used a gentle leader and it worked okay for walking (he would still pull if something was really cool). I ended up switching and training harness walking.

I recommend doing something like 1-2-1-3-2-4-1-5-2-7-3-8-1-10 in seconds as a reward schedule. i was very sceptical of the halti but it's made a world of difference. you should only use it with the guidance of a professional. The right lead (harness, gentle lead, martingale, slip lead, etc.) makes so much difference. They can take what takes 20 minutes with one, to 30 seconds with a lead that has proper leverage.
